Top 25 Positive Affirmations to Start Your Week Off Right

Positive affirmations have been popular for a while. There’s a good reason for this.

They work.

Affirmations affirm. They shout “yes”! as positive statements that we choose to think and speak that can ultimately benefit our everyday lives.

  • Yes, you can do this
  • Yes, you can achieve what you set out to do
  • Yes, you can make a change if you set your mind to it

They can also have a significant impact on our brains, our mindset, our self-confidence and our self-empowerment.

We’ll take a look at how and why practicing positive affirmations can shift you into a more positive perspective, and set you up with 25 powerful affirmations to get your week started!

Do Positive Affirmations Work?

I used to be a bit skeptical when it came to affirmations.

I wasn’t sure they were as powerful as everyone was saying. So, I experimented with them. I made lists of various types of affirmations and began speaking them day and night.

I began leaning into the possibility that these positive statements could help me rewire my brain and change the direction of my life.

After all, I’d spent more time than I wanted thinking negative thoughts and experiencing tough situations.

The result?

My mindset has changed for the better. Through hours and days of practice, I’m less apt to automatically think negative thoughts as I go about my days. I spend less time thinking I’m powerless over my thought life and my life experiences.

How Do Positive Affirmations Work Within Our Brains?

When we look to what positive affirmations do to our brains, it turns out that our grey matter has a hard time distinguishing between reality and imagination. So much so, that by simply imagining or picturing yourself being successful, your brain will respond in the same way as if you actually did those things.

Practicing affirmations taps into the brain’s reward system – the same one that makes you feel so good when you have a significant accomplishment, eat a delicious meal or have sex.

When you experience something pleasant, your brain releases a higher amount dopamine, the neurotransmitter that is associated with pleasure and rewards.

“When exposed to a stimulus which is rewarding, the brain responds by releasing an increased amount of dopamine, the main neurotransmitter associated with rewards and pleasure.” – Simply Psychology

Practicing daily affirmations can have a significant long term effect on us. Here are just a few of the benefits:

  • You are more aware of your thoughts and changing them on the daily
  • Starting to actually believe that you can do something you set your mind to has a hugely impactful effect on your self confidence
  • Focusing on daily, positive thoughts can shift your mindset from negative to positive
  • You feel more self empowered when you know you can handle the obstacles and stress the world throws at you

Start Your Week Off Right

I’d like for you to experience the same thing, so I’ve created some powerful affirmations that you can use to start every week off. But don’t just recite them on Sunday or Monday.

Print the list out and keep it handy. Think and speak out loud the affirmations as often as you can – at home, at work, out in the yard, at the grocery store, etc.

As you recite them, do your best to really feel the positivity surrounding them. Feel more optimistic, empowered, peaceful, happier, and hopeful. Stand tall and really embody the positive feelings.

You get the idea that practice makes perfect. While perfection isn’t the goal, practicing affirmations daily can help you change your primary mindset and become a more positive person.

I’m not saying they will magically change every situation in your life. But they can add value to your thought life, for sure. They can also help you attract other positive things, as you so often hear about in the Law of Attraction.
