Life in Balance: What Do You Really Want?
I’ve asked myself this question a lot over the years.
I usually end up saying “more money” or “a successful career,” but the last few years I’ve been saying “peace”. I just want peace.
Yes, I need to make a living and yes, I want a career I love, but first and foremost, I want peace. Those external things will not give me the peace that I desire.
1. Get Quiet.
Peace means quiet. If we all want peace, why in the world is there so much commotion all the time? There’s not only external noise, but seemingly incessant internal thoughts and noise as well.
If you want peace, learn the art of getting quiet. Sitting quietly with yourself is a great way to just start listening to your own thoughts, and letting them wash over you without agenda. Many people consider this a form of meditation.
- Basic meditation is simply you.
- Sitting in silence.
- Focusing on your breath.
It is there in that secret place that you will not only find what you want, but who you are.

2. Live From the Inside Out.
When thinking about how to live your life and asking yourself the hard questions, keep conscious of the fact that you can live your life from the inside out.
When you do, your heart and mind will align and the result can be a life full of peace and joy, despite outward circumstances.
If you’re not into meditation, that’s fine. You can choose to find a quiet spot and simply sit in silence. Getting out into nature also helps many people get better in touch with their true selves.
Haven’t you ever seen some beautiful landscape and peace just swept over you? In those moments, you weren’t worried about anything. You were just basking in the wonderful glory of creation.
The more we can bask in those types of feelings, the more at peace we will feel.
Even if you don’t know exactly what you want out of life, if you simply know that you want to experience as much peace as possible, that’s a good start.
Aim to become mindful of the moments where you feel peace inside. Even if it’s just for a few seconds while you’re petting your cat, become mindful and offer gratitude for it.
You may be surprised at just how much more peace you feel throughout the days when you make this your practice.
3. Go Deeper Into Your Stillness.
From here, go deeper into your stillness.
Take time regularly to just bask in your own quiet and calm. The toughest part about any sort of personal or spiritual growth is actually taking time to “do the work”, even if the work means sitting in silence.
I understand it’s not easy and within a few minutes, you may feel super bored. I’ve been there.
However, if you’ll keep at it, focusing on what’s behind that blackness behind your eyes, you’ll begin getting a sense of a peaceful presence that you’ll appreciate.
You will feel less stressed, less anxious, and you’ll have more to offer others. We can add value to humanity as we are led by balance and pour out from a full cup.
Today, take some time to be with yourself.
Even if it’s just five minutes in the morning and five minutes in the evening, try it out. Be with love. Breathe slowly, relax your entire body, and bask in the stillness.
Do this every day and see what happens in your life. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
4. Recognize the Power of Undoing.
The bigger picture for us may not be pounding the clock to get more hours of work in.
Freedom and peace may not come from “doing” more. However, it can come in the being present with stillness within. It can come with making a decision to live a balanced life and regularly check in with yourself to be sure you’re not too busy.
I don’t just mean physical busyness either.
We can be overly mentally busy too. This can keep us from getting still with our real selves and dealing with things we may be unconsciously avoiding. It can distract us and keep us from getting real and raw with ourselves and others.
So, if you’re physically or mentally overly busy, start pausing before you say or do anything.
- Tell people you’re cutting back on your commitments.
- Tell your ego to pipe down and stay committed to balance and the power of undoing.
Sometimes life gets confusing. We may feel pain. It’s part of the journey, but let’s not try to run from this by being super busy or by putting a band-aid on the wounds.
- What do you really want?
- And who is the “you” that’s asking?
- Is it your ego, which basically just wants anything that will pacify its cravings for a while?
- Or is your authentic spirit, which will always lead you to feeling more peace?
The real, deep part of you just wants to be.
It just wants to show up in the world as is and be loved and adored for no reason. It’s like the tree stands bold, swaying in the wind, simply being a tree. It’s expressing itself as beauty and being content in that. We too, are part of consciousness expressing itself.
Embracing Balance and Peace in 2025
As you navigate 2025, remember that balance isn’t about perfection – it’s about progress.
By cultivating stillness, living from the inside out, and embracing the power of undoing, you can create a life centered on peace and authenticity.
True balance begins with listening to your inner self, recognizing what matters most, and letting go of the distractions that pull you away from your purpose. It’s a journey of consistent effort, self-reflection, and moments of quiet connection.
Take the time to pause, breathe, and realign with the person you’re becoming. Even small daily steps, like practicing gratitude or spending a few minutes in stillness, can create profound changes over time.
This year, let balance and peace guide you. Trust in your ability to find harmony, and know that every moment of mindfulness brings you closer to the life you truly desire. Here’s to a year of fulfillment, clarity, and so much joy!
